About this collection

The Fort Worth Granite and Marble Works was founded by John A. Bergin and his son Edward T. Bergin in 1877. In 1898, a few years after his father's death, Edward became partners with Lloyd Bowman until Bergin bought his partner's share in 1905. The company fabricated gravestones and monuments including the Al Hayne memorial on Lancaster Avenue, the John Peter Smith sculpture located near the Fort Worth City Hall, and a cornerstone for the Tarrant County Courthouse. The company was alternately known as Fort Worth Marble and Granite Works and Fort Worth Marble Works.

This collection consists of a sales catalog showcasing monuments created by the company, and photographs of the shop, E.T. Bergin's residence, and a few miscellaneous locations.
